Michelle Schmitt Young opened the doors of Bee Young Communications and Marketing in 2020.  The boutique marketing agency allows her to buzz from coast to coast. She shares years of knowledge as a communications and marketing guru.  And she works to develop customized projects to exceed each client’s needs and goals.

The founder of Bee Young Comms, Michelle is a seasoned professional who spent the majority of her career as the media relations/marketing maven in the collegiate athletics realm.  Michelle worked at the White House early in her career.  She has more than two decades of experience in public relations and content marketing communications. She’s worked with premier brands in higher education, healthcare, and collegiate and professional athletics. And during her time, she created numerous successful national PR campaigns. In addition, Michelle has achieved impressive media exposure as a result of her local pitches.

Michelle travels the world in search of a great story to tell with the just-right image or video.  A natural-born communicator, she has a passion for relationship building and a knack for marketing clients’ projects.  She worked three Olympic Games as a PR lead.  And traveled overseas multiple times to provide media relations support to athletes and coaches.  She has more than 20 years of media training and presentation skills coaching at a high level.

In 2008 she began installing all of Santa Clara University’s social media platforms, including the Eye Bronco Network.  More recently, she created the Health and Wellness Facebook Live series at USF Health.  During her time, she also developed an Instagram Live partnership with the City of Tampa during the coronavirus pandemic. 

Michelle has a BA in Public Relations, along with a Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Illinois State University.  She was nominated for and completed the Sports Management Institute.  SMI was hosted at the Universities of North Carolina and Southern California.  She is also a long-time member of PRSA, including the Independent Practitioners Alliance. 

When Michelle isn’t creating unique campaigns for clients, she enjoys traveling. In 2019, she visited 12 countries! A diehard St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.  Michelle also enjoys scouring estate sales for vintage DIY gems to transform with husband Nick.
