When was the last time you looked at your own business the way a stranger does? Not the way you know it, with all the history and the wins and the clients who call you first. The way it looks to someone who found you five seconds ago on their phone.

That gap, between who you are and how you look, is where a lot of good businesses quietly lose ground. It is also where most of my favorite work starts.

JJ Team Homes came to my boutique marketing agency in Tampa asking for social media help. What they actually needed was bigger than that, and saying so was the whole job.

In real estate, your brand is your reputation before anyone picks up the phone

Buyers and sellers are not just evaluating credentials. They are evaluating trust, and trust starts with how you show up: your name, your logo, your website, your social presence. All of it does the talking before you ever get the call.

Jaime and Julie had built a real business. The referrals were there, the results were there, the reputation in their market was there. The brand around it had not kept pace. In a market as saturated as Silicon Valley, that matters more than it should. The agents who look the part online get the introduction, and a website with no keyword strategy is essentially invisible to the people actively searching for exactly what you sell.

So the growth had a ceiling. Not because of the work, but because of the packaging around it.

We started with the name

Before a single post was written, we took a step back and reviewed everything: the website, the social presence, the competitive landscape, and yes, the name itself.

JJ Peninsula Homes became JJ Team Homes. A refreshed logo followed. It sounds like a small change on paper, but a name either reflects where you are going or it anchors you to where you have been. This one was anchoring. Changing it was the bravest call they made, and it was theirs to make. My job was to show them why it mattered.

Then we built the engine

A rebrand on its own is a fresh coat of paint. What makes it pay off is what runs underneath it.

We built a keyword-driven blog strategy aimed squarely at buyers and sellers searching for homes in their target communities. Consistently updated community pages reinforced that effort and helped JJ Team Homes show up where it counted most, which is in search results, at the exact moment someone decides to start looking. Alongside it, a refined social strategy turned a scattered presence into a recognizable, consistent one.

Brand, website including a new blog, search, social. Five things pulling in the same direction instead of five things pulling apart.

The payoff

In 2023, JJ Team Homes earned recognition as a top 1.5% realtor in the country.

That number belongs to them. They did the work, closed the deals, and took care of their clients. What we did was make sure the brand around all of it finally matched the business they had already built.

“Michelle has been instrumental in helping us grow our business and expand our reach. Her assistance in SEO, branding, and consistent messaging has been so helpful, allowing us to focus on our core business of real estate. Michelle is simply the best!”

Jaime Lynn Jones and Julie Cassel, Founders, JJ Team Homes

That last part is the one I think about most. Allowing us to focus on our core business. That is what a good partner does. You should be spending your time on the thing you are great at, not wondering whether your logo is holding you back.

What this means for you

If the way you show up online no longer reflects the quality of what you deliver, that gap is costing you. Not dramatically, and not all at once, but steadily. A lead here. An introduction there. A search result you never appeared in.

The businesses that look the part and show up consistently in search win the first conversation. Everything else follows from there.

And sometimes the most valuable thing an agency can tell you is that the thing you asked for is not the thing you need.
